St. Thomas has an overabundance of animals and not enough homes to support the population of stray, abandoned and unwanted animals. Leslie Hurd, a frequent visitor to the Virgin Islands and HSSTT supporter was determined to help. She established the Pet With Wings Program in 2012.
Our GOAL:
To transport as many animals as possible from the HSSTT to rescue groups and shelters where there is a shortage of adoptable pets.
Here is how you can help to Save a Life:
Transport, we need volunteers to travel with pets back to the following places: Massachusetts, New York, St. Louis, Pittsburgh, South Carolina, D.C. and Florida. If your destination is not listed, please call (Rhea) 340-643-0796 or (Tammy) 340-626-8800. You can also email us at petswithwings@hsstt.com as we add new locations frequently.** A volunteer will meet you both here in St. Thomas and at your arrival destination to bring and pickup your furry travel companion. Transport an island coconut retriever and give a pet a second chance at a forever home.
